Club Overview
The Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club (NWN) is a proud member of the Washington State Youth Soccer Association (WSYSA). The PUSC is a premier competitive arm of the South Snohomish County Youth Soccer Association (SSCYSA). The recreational and select teams from within the SSCYSA are the feeders to the premier level of play. We are proud to be associated with these clubs and their players.
The SSCYSA comprises of the following soccer clubs from Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club, Sno-King Youth Soccer Club & Terrace-Brier Youth Soccer Club. Our sincere thanks to the managers of the various clubs for their dedication and commitment to the game in allowing us to providing an environment for the children to develop and grow.
Philosophy
Our program was designed to accommodate those soccer players that aspire to play at the highest level of competition. This program is designed to provide all players with a fundamental base in technical and tactical skills along with an appreciation for the game of soccer. Our club has designed a program that provides each player with the opportunity to improve their soccer ability by stressing the basic fundamental techniques as the foundation for the younger age groups. Then building on those techniques with advanced training for older players.
Our players enjoy the bonding experience they have with their teammates from traveling and competing together. Our competitive players compete as impact players at their respective high schools and will go on to pursue college soccer and academic scholarships, like many of our players have already done. Former NWN players are now competing at the Division I, II, III and NAIA programs across the United States.
Our Club's success in the area of player development is shown by the performance of our teams and individual player honors. Northwest Nationals produced four (4) State Cup Championship Teams last year (2005) and currently have US National Pool and Regional Team players in our mix. The success of these teams and players is the result of the dedication of the players and their parents, the quality of the NWN Coaching Staff and overall commitment by NWN to long-term development of the individual player.
General Info
Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club is a competitive soccer club organized to provide the highest level of competition in the SSCYSA. Northwest Nationals is a non-profit organization with approximately 350 players and 22 teams ranging in age from U11 to U18.
Overall, all teams play about 9 months out of each year. The league season for boys & girls U11 to U18 is from September to December. All of our teams participate in tournaments over the summer and begin practicing in shortly after tryouts in March. The league season culminates in State Cup where all competitive teams entering are initially randomly matched in a bracket (U11-U12). Those teams that win advance in an elimination tournament until eventually a State Champion is chosen for each age group. WSYL teams (U13-U19) are seeded into brackets depending on league results. State Cup begins in January and depending on how far NWN teams go may result in the State Cup Championship games in early March.
Tryouts for Northwest Nationals are held in Feb/Mar each year. Once a player is offered and accepts a spot on a team, that player is guided through the registration process by the team manager and coach.
At the U11-U13 levels each team has a paid coach but each team also is encouraged to participate in our Northwest Nationals Academy. The academy environment reinforces techniques taught by each coach and allows the youth players to develop at a much higher rate while having fun with other players within Northwest Nationals.
At the older ages, teams usually have a paid coach who focuses on teaching the players the techniques and tactics necessary to play at a high level. As a result, there are usually monthly dues owed by each player in order to pay for the salary of the coach. Fund raising is organized by the individual teams.
This high level of training prepares the players for competition at the highest level of soccer, including Olympic Development teams and college.
