COCOA, FLORIDA – United Soccer Leagues Super Y-League ODP National Camps for their ’91-’93 girls wrapped up here today at the Cocoa Expo Center off the eastern shores of Florida. The good forecast held throughout the weekend as players, scouts, coaches and spectators enjoyed temperatures in the mid eighties. The conclusion of this camp marks the end of the Super Y-League ODP Process for the ‘06-‘07 season. Selections for next season’s camps will be made during Super Y-League play this summer. The Super Y-League Select Teams for the U13, U14, and U15 divisions of the Super Y-League are posted below.

“The Super Y-League ODP Camps were very productive,” said Red Bull New York ’s Pre-Academy Director of Coaching, Lee Pollard. “It is a testament to the clubs in the Super Y-League on their ability to develop players. The women’s side of U.S. Soccer is really coming through. It shows the need for a professional Women’s League in the The skill and demand are both there.”

“Red Bull New York is the first Major League Soccer Team to create a full fledged youth development system,” added Pollard. “It is the flagship youth system of MLS. Clubs are beginning to emulate it now as they attempt to expand on their own youth systems. Every first division club is going to draw the best players out of an area. Red Bull has competition across the country but not so much in their region. The Super Y-League allows us to play clubs like the Chicago Magic. It is hard because of the size of the ”

Elite players named to the Super Y-League Select Team will be recommended to U.S. National Team Staff for further evaluation and inclusion in U.S. National Team Programs.

“There was great competition at this camp,” said San Juan Soccer Club’s Alessandra Chen and Kayla Miller. “Playing in the Super Y-League allows us to play against all the best teams in Northern California . Here, we are not the best players, where as at home we are – we get a lot out of playing against the best competition out there.”

About the Super Y-League ODP National Camps
Over the course of the season, the top U.S. players in the USL Super Y-League were selected by the ODP Scouting System to attend the ODP National Camp. During an intense three-day combine at the ODP National Camp, players will be evaluated by ODP Staff Coaches and US Soccer National Coaching Staff for National Team Programs. During this time, players will learn the demands to compete at the highest levels of the game. In addition to the primary focus of identifying players to National Team Programs, many collegiate coaches will be scouting players for college soccer programs
