Sophie Riser, an alum of Northwest Nationals, has been voted team captain for the upcoming season at Columbia University.

Riser, who will be a junior, made the all-Ivy League first team and second team all-region after leading the Lions with nine assists. The midfielder also scored four goals as Columbia finished 8-5-4 last fall.

Riser graduated from Seattle's Nathan Hale High School in 2006. She is a pre-medicine major at Columbia.
