Northwest Nationals in conjunction with Washington Youth Soccer announces the appointment of the Club’s coaching directors for the 2009-2010 season.
Cliff McCrath, Technical Director, and Dave Schumacher, Washington Youth Soccer Coaching Director, have selected Scott Newman as the new NWN Director of Coaching for Premier teams. Scott comes to NWN with background at the Region 4 level for the past 14 years and has spent 16 years with the state team. Scott coached the girls “88” team to a national championship. Scott is also head of the Washington Youth Soccer girls Olympic Development Program.
Cliff and Dave have also selected Eugene Poublon as the NWN Youth Director. Eugene played for six years for one of the top professional clubs in the world, AFC Ajax. He was also selected to represent Amsterdam in 1989 and was the leading scorer of the tournament to bring the Netherlands a national indoor title.
Both appointees bring a depth of experience to the Northwest Nationals Club. In addition to these qualifications, both coaches hold a USSF “A” License.
We are also pleased to announce that Bobby McLaughlin, will be returning to the Club as the NWN Director of Coaching for Select teams. Bobby is an assistant coach with the University of Puget Sound Men’s team (2000-present) and was previously an assistant coach at Seattle Pacific University for 11 years. He thus brings solid coaching credentials and leadership to NWN.
In the coming weeks, Washington Youth Soccer and the Northwest Nationals will be announcing the coaching staff for 2009/2010. The appointment of the boys coaching staff for U16 through U18 will be posted later today on the NWN web site.
