McCrath Passes Baton to Former Player
Todd Schilperoort named NWN Technical Director

Todd Schilperoort, erstwhile Seattle U. athletic director who helped Seattle Pacific into two national championship games as a player under Cliff McCrath, has been selected by the latter as technical director for the Northwest Nationals Premier Soccer Club.

McCrath, while serving the club in an interim capacity, was charged by the NWN board with finding
a permanent technical director. With the co-blessing of executive director Terry Fisher, and WSYSA president Doug Andreassen, McCrath’s six-month search zeroed in on the former Lincoln High (Seattle), SPU and Seattle Sounder midfielder.

“Todd, clearly, is one of the most qualified teachers and coaches of the game,” said McCrath, the cofounder
of Soccer Saves and for 40 years a pillar of the area’s soccer community. "He brings to the club a wealth of administrative experience that is second to none.”

Schilperoort was at Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Ala., for 12 years, serving as men’s soccer coach and athletic director, before being tapped by Seattle University as its athletic director in 2000. From 2003-08 he was a premier coach for Crossfire Soccer Club before joining Highline Premier FC as technical director.

“The combination of NWN being in my backyard in addition to a coaching cadre of former teammates, and those I know and respect well, made this an excellent fit,” said Schilperoort. “Cliff and the board have laid a great foundation that makes an excellent springboard for forging ahead with plans to make NWN the best soccer Club anywhere!”

“Our goal is not to climb low mountains.”
